The Sixth Form at Tavistock College offers a broad range of academic A levels and vocational courses. As well as providing breadth, the College prides itself on excellence at Key Stage 5. The College consistently sees a handful of students win places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities and on prestigious courses to study medicine, each year; a raft of students gain places at Russell Group universities and many others graduate to higher learning, apprenticeships or into successful careers.
Our aim is to provide clear advice and guidance, opportunity and learning experiences to enable all to progress to their chosen futures. We pride ourselves on offering the highest quality of teaching and learning. We also provide an all-round education comprising of a wealth of opportunities for students to volunteer in the College and wider community, lead younger students and seize new experience. We have developed a highly successful ‘Aspire’ programme to raise the aspirations of the most academically able: Students are given the opportunity to visit prestigious universities and institutions such as the Houses of Parliament, Stock Exchange and law courts in London in order to widen horizons and raise aspirations. However, we aim to nurture, challenge and develop all students to enable their success. 2013 has seen two students win places at Oxford University, at least one other student has progressed onto a course to study Medicine and all students who wanted to have places at university. 33% of students gained 1 or more A* A grades and a fifth of all grades were at A and A*. This is a 2% rise from last year. 43% of our students gained a A-B grades.
