Examinations - General Information

The following procedures apply in Tavistock College and to all students taking examinations.
The Centre Number is 54543. It is important to also remember your personal Exam/Candidate Number.

Seat Numbers

You will be allocated a seat number for each examination. This information will be given to you before the examination period for each examination. The seating details will be on the examination notice board in the Concourse and Main Student Entrance.

SEAT NUMBERS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE ONCE IN THE SPORTS HALL/MAIN HALL.

If you do not have your seat number when entering the Examination Hall you will be asked to leave and get the number from one of the notice boards in the main buildings.

Disturbance of Candidates

Students are not allowed to communicate in any way once in the Sports/Main Hall. The balcony (dance studio) of the Sports Hall is part of the examination area and talking is not allowed when in that area.

Equipment

Any electronic equipment is not permitted in an exam room. You are strongly advised not to bring any valuables (mobile phones/music players/portable consoles) to College during the exam period. Remember that your bag will be left unattended for long amounts of time during exams and you are strongly advised to leave anything of value at home, however if this is not possible the Exams Office may take small valuable items before an exam and lock them away until you collect them.

Writing equipment cannot be borrowed from invigilators. It is your responsibility to bring equipment needed (eg. calculator, protractor etc). You should bring spare pens and pencils which should only be kept in clear pencil cases.

Examination Regulations

It is your responsibility, as the exam candidate, to know the awarding bodies’ regulations regarding both written examinations and coursework. A copy of these notices are included in this booklet.

Rough Work

This should be done on the exam answer paper and then neatly crossed out (though not obliterated), this paper must not be taken from the exam room.

Lateness

If you know you are going to be late, you should phone the College immediately. If you arrive late you will be allowed to take the exam however, you are advised to see the Exams Office staff before entering the exam room if you are later than 30 minutes. The exam board will notified and may, under extreme circumstances, decide not to accept your script.

Illness

If you are ill on the day of the exam please contact the Exams Office for advice. You may need to obtain a doctors note where appropriate which must be forwarded to the Exams Office.

Early Completion

Candidates who complete the exam early cannot leave the examination room early. All exam regulations apply until the scheduled finish time for the examination, regardless of whether some or all candidates have finished writing.

Toilet Breaks

Candidates cannot leave the exam room to use the toilet unless there is a specific medical reason, which requires a note from parents/doctor.

Food and Drink

Candidates are not allowed to bring any food or drink into an examination except for a clear bottle of water.
